Another
Solution is Murdered
A
young Nigerian, Mr. Kanu Nwankwo of 1996 Centennial Olympic Soccer
Star was diagnosed with a serious heart problem immediately after
the Centennial events. The young Kanu, who was just stepping into
the soccer limelight with the entire world before him, was downcast.
He had to choose between living the rest of his life with the weak
aorta and forget his soccer career or face heart surgery to correct
the problem. In order for him to decide on the best professionally
qualified surgeon to perform the delicate operation, series of tests
were done and investigations of good heart surgeons were also made.
The opinion of the doctors sampled recommended that Dr. Bruce Lyte
is a force to reckon with in heart surgery. Reputation pointed him
out as one of the best heart surgeons in the world.
Mr.
S. Bello-Osagie, the man who was with Mr. Kanu Nwankwo throughout
the crucial moment of his life described Dr. Bruce Lyte of Cleveland
Clinic Foundation as a powerful, charismatic and unassuming
individual. His professional background revealed him as a man of
integrity who is always in the business of saving lives everyday. He
was said to be performing 10-15 heart operations in a week. As
powerful and flamboyant as Dr. Lyte is in the medical world, he is
also noted for the simple life he lives. He was said to be riding a
motorcycle to the hospital each morning.
We
often think that whatever we do to our body or ourselves is not the
business of anybody. This may be true in the narrow sense of pride.
These types of people do not see it from the point of view of God.
According to His timing and divine plan, we are here on earth to
touch the inhabitants of the earth with our potentials, our time,
life, wisdom, knowledge and everything that God had given us in
order that the earth may become a better place to live in. To these
people I pray that God may open the eyes of their understanding.
Statistics indicate that smoking related diseases are the major
killers in the countries of the world. Alcoholism has its own share
of tragic deaths on our highways every year not to mention the
deadly effect of alcohol in the lives of the babies that alcoholic
parents are bringing into this world. These babies have already been
turned into jelly-minded individuals because of the uncontrollable
alcohol consumption of their parents before and during pregnancies.
Some of the offspring of the alcoholic parents are neither living
nor dead. They become problems to themselves, to the community and
also to their wicked parents who were living their own reckless
lives of enjoyment at the expense of the life of their offspring. I
was watching a documentary recently where some were discussing the
evil of abortion. One previous medical personnel of an abortion
clinic, lamented that he was performing on the average of 45 to 50
abortions per day before he finally realized the evil he had been
doing to humanity. If this doctor could credit 50 abortions to
himself each day, imagine the number of babies these licensed
baby-butchers are killing each day all over the world.
AIDS
is more or less permanently living with mankind today. The death
toll of this deadly disease is on the increase world-wide, so also
the monstrous cancer that eats man up alive and makes human muscles
and delicate organs to become rotten in many ways. Could it be said
that God is no longer sensitive to the situation of mankind? To this
question, I say "No." God has foreseen the problems of mankind and
has been providing an adequate antidote. God has provided solution
to the problems. But we are daily killing the solutions when we do
not live our lives according to the precepts of God. You are
slashing the throat of the solution to the problems of humanity when
you give consent to a medical doctor to suck out life from the baby
in your womb. You are gradually killing the solution to the problems
of humanity if you do not see anything wrong in engaging in alcohol
intake when you are pregnant or breast feeding your baby. You are
participating in murdering the solution to the problems of humanity
in your addictive smoking that render your lungs weak and that of a
non-smoking second party who inhales the deadly poison and thereby
turns their lungs into the abode of cancer. You or your second party
victim may likely pass away before the completion of God's covenant
in your lives. I want you to realize that you are participating in
the killing of the solution to the problem of humanity if you are
living a reckless life or using your body against the will of God.
I
want you to understand that this is not a pro-choice or anti-smoking
campaign. This is a reality of life and it is also the mind of God
concerning the way you use your life. If the mother of Moses had
consented to the killing of baby Moses when he was in her womb, he
would not have been able to respond to God's calling at Mount Horeb
and the God-sent deliverer would not have been there when Israelites
needed someone to deliver them from the hand of their taskmaster in
Egypt. If Billy Graham had engaged in alcoholism, thereby lost his
mind or his life via motor accident on the highway, he would not
have become an anchorman of salvation of our time. If Jacob, the
father of the Israelites, was daily committing suicide in terms of
smoking and he became addicted to it and suffered the consequence of
the addiction, maybe he would have passed away before the completion
of the purpose of God in his life.
Suppose Dr. Bruce Lyte, the surgeon who performed the heart
operation of Kanu Nwankwo, had been plagued with any of the
self-inflicted social crimes of our time. Definitely, the excellent
solution to the heart problem of Mr. Nwankwo would not have been
there when his medical expertise was needed. Kanu had since returned
to the active soccer career because of what God used the doctor to
accomplish in his life. I want you to understand today that your
life and the way you live for the rest of your life, whether happily
or otherwise, depends and compliments directly or indirectly with
the lives of others. Consequently, whatever you do to your body or
your life is affecting the lives of others even if you are not
sensitive enough to know.
Your
life is a gift from God. Whatever you do with it is a gift, in
return, onto God. It is also an indication of your appreciation or
ingratitude, as the case may be, unto God. Let us understand today
that every one of us will give account of what we have done with our
lives, our talents, our wisdom and our knowledge in the presence of
God at last. Ask yourself this question before you sleep each day,
"Have I spent my life righteously for the glory of God today?" If
not, repent of your ways. The day of reckoning is near.
