The Great
Commission
Some
of us have come across insurance representatives before and perhaps
the underneath will refresh our memories of their unique activities.
Vulture, they say is a patient bird, according to an adage, but the
patience of this bird cannot be compared with the one that exist
among these special people. They would approach you with
unparalleled courtesy. They are cool headed and pleasant people. I
believe they are trained specially like these in order to get
attention of their clients. They are ready and well prepared for any
question you may want to ask. They will convince you with analysis
why you should take insurance policy and point out the dangers if
you do not hold one. They are well equipped with the modern day
business technology, perhaps with laptop computer and cell-phone
for a snappy contact in the head office. Insurance representative
does not need to calculate any figure manually himself, he does not
need to confirm any figure from the head office data, all
information necessary for him to establish valid insurance contract
is available to him there.
One
may say these are the normal attributes for a smart sales person. We
must not forget that he is doing all these in order to project a
good image of the company that he is representing in exchange for
the equivalent amount in dollar he receives in terms of
remuneration.
How
dramatic the world around us would have been if we can apply the
patience, the zeal and perseverance of insurance representatives in
the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. We know that the motivation in
terms of commission propel the excellent performance of insurance
representative. But our gain in eternity cannot be quantified in
terms of monetary units of this world. The greatest commission is
for us with a blessing attached to it. “Go to the world and
preach the gospel to all creation, baptizing them in the name of the
Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit.” We are
representative of the Gospel of Jesus Christ on earth, and if we can
employ the attributes mentioned above in this great commission, the
whole world will be evangelized. Are you wondering how you will
stand in the presence of stranger to tell them the good news? Do not
allow this to worry you my brothers and sisters. Peter was in the
same shoe before the day of Pentecost. I will also suggest that you
go from known to unknown because the adage says, “charity begins at
home.” Start from your immediate family, your parents, your brothers
and sisters, your wife or your husband, your friends and relatives.
One can imagine the problem you can encounter here because the
prophets are noted for not being famous in their community, but if
you are living the life of the gospel of Jesus Christ you are
preaching, they will believe you. The confidence acquired thereby
will see you through to stand boldly in the presence of strangers
and declare the gospel of Jesus Christ. But always approach them
with that unparalleled courtesy because the Bible says, “let your
conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that
you may know how to answer everyone.” (Colossians 4:6)
The
difference between insurance representative and Christian is that
Christians does not need to be a professional in theology before we
can convince our clients. The watchword is 'let the
beauty of Jesus be seen in you,' let this light so shine in you for
others to see, so that your Father in Heaven may be glorified. The
people of the world today do not listen with their ears when it
comes to the issue of the gospel of Jesus Christ, instead they
‘listen’ with their "eyes." They do not really care much about the
eloquence of your words, or brilliancy of your presentation or the
truth and inspiration that the gospel of Jesus Christ contained. You
are the gospel to them. Your conversation, your deed, your ways of
life is the gospel they are interested in. To these precious people,
‘seeing is believing.’ This is the convincing attribute that God
wants us to demonstrate to the world so that they may turn from
their wicked ways to God. The Holy Spirit will definitely not fail
in His own part.
The
insurance representatives of the world always equip themselves with
sophisticated office automation and they use it when the need arise.
The same is required of us but the difference is that, “the
weapon of our warfare is not carnal, it is strong to the pulling
down of the strong hold of enemy.” “All scripture is God-breathed
and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for
every good work.” (II Timothy 3:16) It is not the Bible you
have in your hand that we are talking about but the word of God that
is actively dwelling in your spirit. This is the spiritual
sophistication you need to guide your client into
righteousness and establishment of everlasting relationship in the
kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As
the second of your wristwatch is ticking by, another opportunity is
presented itself to you, a special grace from God for you to prove
your metus in the service of the Lord, which is the main purpose of
your calling in His vineyard. An adage says, “those who know how to
think will know how to thank.” I want you to know that God is
preserving your soul for a purpose so that you will make difference
in the life of the people you will touch, so that the death of the
Lord on the cross will not be in vain. The flag of the gospel of
Jesus Christ must be lifted up high in the unique way that God has
inspired you.
May your life
be met with the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
